Network Simulator Download

Please read the license for Network Simulator before proceeding to download below. You will be presented with license again during installation process and will be required to accept it in order to continue with installation.
Latest version adds support for ability to specify and simulate packet loss rate for each direction for each flow independently. Packets loss rate can be specified in the range from 1% to 100%. This version 0.9.129 has been tested by us pretty well (for weeks) but not as long as 0.9.127 (for months), so if you don't care about ability to run on Windows 7 you may download previous version and come later for 0.9.129 or later version in case if we have some problems.
If you like our free network delay simulator you may like our free Network Anomaly Detection and Network Behiovoral Analasys tool FlowMatrix available for free.

Thank you for you interest.
Latest version:
Network Simulator 0.9.129 (x86 ~7MB) for Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and Windows 7

Previous version:

Hardware and Software requirements

For normal operation of Network Simulator the following are hardware and software requirements:
Minimum hardware requirements

Intel Pentium II or compatible 300 MHz or higher processor;
10 MB of free disk space;
Network adapter (only Ethernet, Fast Ethernet have been tested and supported);

Minimum software requirements

Windows 2000 (Server or Professional) or Windows XP (Home or Professional), Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Installation

The Network Simulator utility has standard installation program to simplify your installation, so you just run install and it will install driver as well as user interface component, help and other program files. Since installation needs to install network drivers, account under which you are running this utility needs to have local administrator rights.

Before running installation you need to download zip file from the link at the bottom of this page, then unzip it to some directory and run the file called setup.exe.

When you are done using this program and would like to remove it from your system it has uninstall, which will cleanly remove all program components from your system, including driver. To uninstall go to Control Panel and select "Add/Remove Programs", find entry for "Network Simulator" and then click on "Remove" button to fully uninstall. You will need to reboot your system to fully remove driver from your system.
Sample screenshots

So that you have better idea of what we really mean, we have included some interesting screenshots, so you can decide if you would like to install this utility and give it a try.

Screenshot below shows example of the flow that will match any HTTP traffic running (port 80) to any remote destination node from local node.

Screenshot below shows statistical information for the connection when flow created above was enabled and browsing was done to different remote web sites, such that flow will match this traffic and as result will apply simulated delay and bandwidth to it.

Screenshot below shows statistical information presented in different form with the same flow used and browsing performed to remote web sites such that web traffic would match flow criteria.
