Steps / Ways to transfer files between Android and PC Wireless

If you happen to transfer files very frequently from your PC to Android device, probably you hate looking for the USB cable and MTP connections. Lets explore all the best possible ways to transfer files between Android and PC:

android-file-transfer-wireless
0. USB / MTP / Mount SD card (Wired method)
If you happen to have a USB connection between Android and PC, this is first option. When connected in MTP mode (settings > storage > menu > USB computer connection > MTP), Windows, Linux auto-mounts your phone storage. On OSX, you need AFT.

Step 1. AirDroid

One of the most feature-rich apps on Android. Using AirDroid you can see your Android device’s status, files, images, videos, contacts, SMS, call history, etc.
Simply run the app on phone and point your desktop browser to phone’s IP address (shown in AirDroid). You can optionally use a password for secure file transfer between any PC and Android device.

Another similar app is Wifi Explorer. You can also checkout file managers that support file transfers, the best one is ES File Explorer v3.

Step 2. FTP / SFTP File Transfer

You can map a Virtual drive on Windows/Mac/ Linux that can be used to put files on Android phone and vice-versa. Its easy as long as you can follow the steps carefully.
Get an FTP server on your phone, an app like SwiFTP, configure it to have a username/password.
On your desktop PC Mount a directory for your phone’s ip address as FTP server [OSX, Linux guide] and you’re all set. Then onwards you can drag and drop files between Android and PC or explore it in your OS’s explorer.
Alternatively you can also use FTP client on PC like FileZilla.
Download SwiFTP

Step 3. Awesome Drop

Drag and drop file you wish to transfer into Chrome/Safari browser and the file is transferred to your Android phone/tablet. You need to open  http://labs.dashwire.com/drop/android in your browser tab.
Download Awesome drop | Website

Step 4. ADB wireless

(Experienced persons only)
Not a user friendly way. But if you’re a developer you can use “adb push filename” to transfer files to android and “adb pull filename” for copying file from Android to PC. These are standard commands for file transfer over USB ADB. But using ADB wireless, you can do it all over the air: Wifi.
Download ADB konnect

Step 5. qrSend

Right click any file on PC: Windows, Linux, OSX and send to > qrCode. This generates a QR code which when scanned by android app initiates the transfer.
qrsend
First off, download qrSend’s Windows application (JAR file for Mac OS X or Linux) on your computer, and install the Android app on your device. In order to transfer the file(s), simply right-click your desired item, followed by clicking ‘Send with qrSend’ from the context menu. Fire the android app and scan the barcode. Within a matter of seconds, file transfer will be initiated.
Download qrSend

Step 6. Dropbox / Google Drive /SkyDrive / Box.net

If you’ve a Google Drive or Dropbox / SkyDrive account, syncing files is slick. Drag and drop your files into the synced folder and the files will appear on the Android app. This is a popular way of syncing your files across multiple devices: Desktops, laptops, phones, tablets.
Download: DropboxGoogle DriveSky DriveBox

Step 7. Samba server

Samba is a file sharing protocol for sharing files across PCs. Same can be brought to Android with a cool little app. Once you run and configure the app, your phone becomes visible to your Windows, Linux, OSX PC Network.
Go into Network LAN explorer (“Network Neighborhood” on Windows) on your PC and you can see your Android device there. The Android share can typically be accessed using IP address like \ip.add.re.ss e.g. \192.168.1.10 in the Windows Explorer or Run command. For OSX instructions, checkout this, for Linux see here.
App lets you mount device’s SDCARD as a network location which can be configured for username/password, Windows workgroup name, and NETBIOS name.
App requires ROOT permissions.

Steps on how to get a big Whiteboard within a small budget

I did some research. I got some advice from some internet marketing friends. And I arrived at a solution. For less than 10% of the cost of a comparably sized whiteboard pre-built, I got the job done.

Why A Whiteboard?

Whiteboards are a favorite tool among many internet marketers I know. Many others have hung them with the best intentions, only to rarely (if ever) actually use it. So, the question is… What use is a whiteboard? Why would I want one?
  • Diagramming A Sales Process. When you’re planning out a sales funnel, it is nice to diagram it out visually. This includes the landing pages, thank-you pages, upsells, downsells – you get the idea. And even though you can do this with flow chart software, hashing it out on a whiteboard often works better. Plus, you don’t get mired down with trying to figure out the software or some compulsion to make it look pretty.
  • Videos. Recording yourself on video talking about something, but in front of your whiteboard so you can draw out what you’re talking about, all professor-style.
  • Projects and Planning. Obvious.
  • Model a product launch. There can be a lot of moving pieces to a product launch. Map it out on the whiteboard.
You get the idea. Yes

Whiteboard On The Cheap

Small whiteboards are easy to come by, but their size is usually a limitation. Hell, my computer monitor is bigger than some of those things.
Once you move up to something of decent size, you have to pony up some serious scratch. The larger (usually commercial-grade) whiteboards can cost several hundred dollars.
Then, you have paint options. For example, companies like IdeaPaint orWhiteyboard have paint-on options. You literally just paint your wall with this material and it turns the entire wall into a dry-erase whiteboard. This is probably your best option if you truly want wall-to-wall whiteboards.
Whiteyboard also has adhesive options. You buy the whiteboard material in a roll and you, well, roll it on.
As convenient as these options are, the problem is that you need a very smooth service. A standard texture on drywall should work OK with paint because the paint will even out as it dries (in theory). Some walls, though, have a more pronounced texturing to them. That would make the whiteboard surface bumpy and that’s annoying. Same problem with the adhesive.
The other thing to consider is removability. Paint-on whiteboard is, I would imagine, pretty much a bitch to remove. So, if you’re in an apartment or in a rental house (as I am right now), it might not be a viable option. You want to be able to move out and leave the walls undamaged.

So, This Is What I Did…

I went to Lowes and picked up an 8’x4′ white panelboard. This is the kind of board which would be wall-mounted in a cheap bathroom or something. It happens to make a pretty decent dry-erase board, though.
The price of the board (at Lowes) was $11.87 per panel. If you wanted more than one, I bet you could afford it. ;)
The biggest problem is fitting in in your car. You pretty much want to have it inside the vehicle. A flat item like this would act as one HELL of a sail if the wind caught it, so roof-mounting it might prove problematic. I couldn’t even fit this thing in my wife’s SUV, so I actually had to have the folks at Lowes cut the board for me. I had them cut it right down the middle, so I had TWO 4’x4′ boards.
To mount it to the wall, you have a couple different options. One is, of course, adhesive. A simple tube of liquid nail would do it. Just keep in mind that this would screw up the wall if you try to remove it.
The way  I mounted it? Velcro. Industrial stength velcrow tape, as shown here: (link to Lowes)
Since I had two separate 4×4 panels, I cut up the velcrow tape evenly and stuck strips in each of the 4 corners of each board. I actually placed the strips a few inches inward on each corner, not right at the edge. This velcrow is more than adequate to hold up the weight of this panel.
Don’t worry about measuring it precisely and trying to match it up on the wall. I’d recommend pre-fastening the velcrow before wall-mounting it. Then, you simply position the wall panel and stick it onto the wall. Then, pushing inward to really stick those things to the wall. This saves a lot of hassle from trying to match up the locations of the two sides to the velcrow.

The End Result

There you have it.
The ONLY problem with this is the fact that I had to cut it in half to even get it home. I now have this seam (which is pretty visible) in the middle of it. In practice, I doubt it will be any problem. Worse case, I could probably reduce the seam with some chaulking or something.
All in all, though – pretty dang swanky. And, panel and velcro, my total cost was only about $20 or so. When  you consider what a whiteboard this size would have cost pre-built, pretty sweet. :)

Driving traffic and getting more exposure for your blog is probably the most important factor that determines the success of your blog. No matter how great you write articles or how entertaining your blog post is, all your efforts are bound to go into waste if you don’t get people if the right audience doesn’t frequent your online dominion.

So the next time you’re having problems getting people to visit your blog, here are five simple tips to drive your traffic straight through the roof.
  1. Brand yourself, your blog – be unique and separate yourself from the rest
Branding is one of the most vital elements in successful marketing campaigns. How you brand yourself determines how your audience ultimately perceives you. A good brand is one that is unique and can easily be separated from the rest.

  2. Use social media to drive traffic and exposure for your blog
Using social media is a tried and tested technique in driving traffic and exposure to your blog. Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace along with the micro-blogging site Twitter have put the term “viral” into a bigger more grandiose level.

Similarly, video-sharing sites particularly YouTube and other sharing platforms such as Digg and StumbleUpon work wonders in driving traffic and exposure to one’s blog.

  3. Article marketing, SEO, backlinking strategies – Old Faithful
Despite the fact that today’s blogger is living in the dreaded post-Panda age, the basics of article marketing, SEO and backlinking are still applicable and highly effective – it’s just that the rules have changed.

The recent Google Panda put more emphasis on quality thus, a more quality-focused article marketing technique and better SEO and backlinking strategies should be implemented.

  4. Socialize with fellow bloggers, network with othersSocializing and networking with fellow bloggers is another simple way on how you can drive traffic and get more visitors for your blog. There are a pltheora of ways on how you can do it – it can be done through guest posting, commenting and joining forums and even blog carnivals.

  5. Do something crazy or something controversial
Doing something out of the box can drive traffic and much needed exposure while providing free advertising for your blog. You have to offer something different for your readers as a way of providing unique and interesting content. Just keep it within your niche and sprinkle it with a little good taste.
